JAN K. FRANKOWSKI has over 25 years of legal experience. His practice focuses primarily on complex litigation, representing both plaintiffs and defendants in federal and Louisiana state courts. Jan obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree, cum laude, in History and French, from St. Louis University where he was enrolled in the Honors Prograrn. He then obtained his J.D. from Vanderbilt University Law School in 1994. He has lived and practiced in New Orleans since law school. Representative matters include:

Representation of business owners in complex disputes involving ownership and control of various oil and gas and real estate businesses. Coordination of overall litigation strategy and efforts of several related parties. The litigation involved lawsuits in two Louisiana state district courts and the Court of Chancery in Delaware. In re Tufts Oil and Gas-III, LP, 03-1296 (La. App. 5th Cir. 2004), 871 So. 2d 476; Crutcher v. Tufts, 04-653 (La. App. 4th Cir. 2005), 898 So. 2d 529; and Crutcher- Tufts Resources, Inc. v. Tufts, 10-1254 (La. App. 4th Cir. 2011), 61 So. 3d 41. Representation also involved coordination of efforts in related lawsuits pending in federal district court and in bankruptcy court.

Defense of BP Well Site Leader charged with 22 felony counts of manslaughter and a violation of the Clean Water Act arising from the April 2010 Deepwater Horizon accident. United States of America v. Donald Vidrine (interlocutory appeal affirming district court's dismissal of 11 felony counts reported at 780 F.3d 647). Charges concluded with plea to a single misdemeanor count.

Litigated variety of other claims, including breach of trust, securities fraud, breach of contract, product liability, redhibition, and legal malpractice. Experience in multi-party and class-action litigation.
