J. BENTON ALFORD, JR. is an associate in the Baton Rouge office. He is a part of the general civil litigation group.
Benton was born and raised in Baton Rouge, Louisiana as the son of local business owners. He graduated from Catholic High School in 2017. Thereafter, he moved to New Orleans to study at Tulane University, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science and philosophy. Benton attended law school at the Paul M. Hebert LSU Law Center, where he served as the Executive President of the LSU Law Student Bar Association in his third year and the 2L Class President in his second year. While in law school, he was a summer law clerk for the Honorable Judge Darrel James Papillion in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana. Additionally, he clerked at Kinchen Walker Bienvenu Bargas Reed & Helm, LLC, where he assisted with insurance defense litigation. He also clerked at the Scott Law Firm, LLC, where he assisted in the practice areas of personal injury, criminal defense, and immigration law.
Benton has lived in Madrid, Spain, where he gained fluency in Spanish. In his free time, Benton enjoys playing golf, traveling the world, and watching college football.
