Roedel Parsons is pleased to announce its newest senior associate, John Robert Ellis, who has joined the firm’s Baton Rouge office effective December 1, 2025.

Mr. Ellis brings nearly 14 years of diverse legal experience to the firm, along with a distinguished academic record and a broad background in civil, commercial, and strategic advisory work. A native of Bossier City, Louisiana, he earned both his Finance and MBA degrees with honors from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette before completing his Juris Doctor at the Appalachian School of Law, where he achieved Dean’s List honors every semester and served on the Law Journal. He went on to earn an LLM from Tulane University School of Law, contributing as Chief Editor to several legal textbooks authored by Professor Max Nathan, Jr.

Throughout his career, Mr. Ellis has advised clients in strategic asset planning, healthcare, commercial litigation, and commercial transactions. His professional roles have included serving as General Counsel for major real estate development companies as well as Chief Legal Counsel and Director of Military Security for a private government contractor. His client base has ranged from local Louisiana small businesses to major private equity firms based in New York City.

John is also committed to community service and professional engagement. He has served on the Board of Directors for the Metropolitan Center for Community Advocacy since 2015 and is an active member of the Louisiana State Bar Association, New Orleans Bar Association, Lafayette Bar Association, and Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity International. His professional distinctions include recognition by Top Attorneys of North America, Marquis Who’s Who, Continental Who’s Who, and Lawyers of Distinction, among others.

Outside of his legal practice, John enjoys spending time with family and friends, exploring National Parks, hiking and summiting mountains, playing tennis, and studying dinosaur paleontology.
