Special congratulations goes out to Volt Broadband for holding a successful groundbreaking ceremony on July 25th in Bastrop, Louisiana, to kick off the company's "lighting up" of its new high-speed Fiber to the Home initiative, which will be built out in the Northeast Louisiana Power Cooperative, Inc. ("NELPCO") service area (an area which includes seven parishes in northeast Louisiana). NELPCO formed Volt Broadband, a wholly owned subsidiary, to make high speed, broadband internet service available to all of its members.

In connection with the groundbreaking ceremony, Volt Broadband announced the company had been awarded $2.26 million dollars from the State's GUMBO Program ("Granting Unserved Municipalities Broadband Opportunities") to assist in the development of high-speed internet for the Franklin, Madison, and Tensas Parishes.
