Roedel Parsons handles the unique practice area of workers’ compensation defense. On behalf of business interests and four governors, our attorneys have drafted and testified before the Louisiana Legislature on every major workers’ compensation reform passed in the last three decades. In addition to writing the state’s workers’ compensation laws, members of the firm, through appointment by multiple governors, have served several terms on the Governors’ Workers’ Compensation Advisory Board.
We act as general counsel for the Louisiana Association of Self-Insured Employers (LASIE), the workers’ comp watchdog for the business community. Two of our attorneys teach that organization’s nationally recognized certification course for workers’ compensation professionals, and our attorneys have also chaired numerous councils and task forces for the Louisiana Association of Business and Industry (LABI), Louisiana’s State Chamber of Commerce. One of our attorneys edited that organization’s Workers’ Compensation Deskbook, one of the definitive works on Louisiana workers’ compensation law.
Our attorneys have written several papers and other published articles, have lectured at three of Louisiana’s four law schools, and have been frequent speakers for national companies, professional business groups and trade associations. On workers’ compensation matters, one of our attorneys serves as a chief media and legislative spokesperson for the business community.
In sum, workers’ compensation is a unique practice area for the firm, recognized locally, statewide and nationally.
