The Firm further congratulates Tom Balhoff for his recognition as “2020 Lawyer of the Year” in the practice of Litigation-Labor and Employment in Baton Rouge and his inclusion in the Best Lawyers in America in the practice areas of Litigation-Insurance; Mass Tort Litigation; and Product Liability Litigation.
Roedel Parsons is proud to announce that its associate, Bradley Guin, will be published in the 96th Edition of the Tulane Law Review. Bradley’s article, A Lessor’s Duty to Mitigate Damages Under Louisiana Law, analyzes an active circuit split in Louisiana regarding whether lessors owe a duty to mitigate their damages when their tenants unjustifiably abandon the leased premises. While some Louisiana courts of appeal hold that a lessor owes an affirmative duty to relet the premises, others hold the opposite. To resolve this split, the article argues that the modern pro-mitigation rule is the better position and, indeed, the current state of the law in Louisiana.
We are proud of the accomplishments of our attorneys and staff. To learn more about the news you read here, please contact us online or call our Baton Rouge office at 225-929-7033, New Orleans office at 504-566-1801

Our firm congratulates two recent graduates of LSU Law School, who will be joining us as associate attorneys following the Bar Exam.
Bradley Guin, a native of Haughton, Louisiana, obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from LSU in 2015. He graduated in May, 2019 from LSU Law School with a Juris Doctor and a Diploma in Comparative Law. He served as the Managing Editor of the Louisiana Law Review and as a member of the Student Bar Association Ethics Committee. During Law School he received several academic awards including the Dean’s Scholar Award and CALI Awards for the highest exam grades in Louisiana Security Devices Survey, Constitutional Law I, Louisiana Civil Procedure I, and Legal Research & Writing II. Prior to joining Roedel Parsons, Bradley worked as a law clerk at the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Louisiana and as a Committee Clerk for the Louisiana House of Representatives.
Daniel T. Price, a native of New Iberia and Lafayette, received his undergraduate degree from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette where he studied music and trumpet performance. He is graduating with honors from LSU Law School in May, 2019. He also received the Dean’s Scholar Award and CALI Awards academic excellence in Legal Writing, Administrative Law and Environmental Law Policy courses. Daniel also participated in the Moot Court competition and was a member of the LSU Board of Advocacy in 2019. His team received the Best Brief Award in the Tullis Moot Court Competition and he represented LSU in the American Bar Association National Appellate Advocacy Competition in 2018 and 2019. In addition, Daniel interned in the Middle District of Louisiana with the late Judge James Brady.
We are thankful that both Bradley and Daniel have chosen to begin their legal careers with our firm.
This recognition is an affirmation of firm wide talent as no one attorney is better than the team assembled to help them succeed. Many attorneys on the team have equal or better credentials than those who have been recently recognized.

Thanks to all volunteers who have helped our City and Region begin its recovery from the massive flooding. Our homes and vehicles can be replaced; our people and relationships cannot. We are open for business, ready to assist families, friends and clients with legal, practical and day to day needs. This event has been “our Katrina without the wind.” We will respond as we did in 2005 — as quickly and efficiently as possible. Let us know how we can help you.
Wayne Fontana of our New Orleans office recently obtained another zero judgment in their defense of employers in Workers’ Compensation trials. In this latest case the trial judge found fraud by the employee resulting in forfeiture of all benefits and a restitution order to pay back previous benefits received. Moreover, Wayne persuaded the court to impose a $1,000 civil penalty payable to the Kids’ Chance scholarship fund and a similar $1,000 judgment for court costs and interpreter fees. Finally, the trial judge referred the case to the Fraud Section of the Office of Workers’ Compensation Programs and to the Orleans Parish District Attorney’s Office for potential prosecution.
The firm welcomes Wayne Fontana to the Management Committee (MC) effective August 1st. Wayne currently serves as the managing shareholder of our New Orleans office. He brings more than 35 years of legal experience, including his management of the very successful predecessor firm of Fontana & Seelman, LLP, to our MC at Roedel Parsons. We will benefit from his knowledge and wisdom.
