Governmental Relations

"CJ Blache and I started working with clients at the Louisiana capitol in the early 1980s. We have burned through many pairs of shoes walking between the House and Senate chambers for our clients over three decades. We attribute our successes to hard work, integrity and a commitment to our state." — Johnny Koch

Our governmental relations attorneys practice before administrative and legislative bodies of state and local government throughout Louisiana, including the Louisiana Legislature, the Louisiana Public Service Commission, the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals, the Louisiana Department of Insurance, the Louisiana Department of Economic Development, the Louisiana Insurance Rating Commission and Army Corps of Engineers. Our clients' interests are diverse and include aviation, chemical, conservation, cultural, healthcare, maritime, media, oil and gas, railroad, regulated utilities, and other business and association interests.

The responsibilities assumed by our attorneys require us to stay abreast of both the law and practice of politics. Our attorneys work with firm clients to develop a well-researched, legally sound and appropriate governmental relations program enhanced by our unique understanding of the political process. The complexity of personal, professional, and business life is increasingly affected by local, state, and national political issues. Thus, we have dedicated a significant portion of our practice to the governmental relations section.

Examples of our work include:

  • Advice and consultation on the political process
  • Appearances before legislative bodies, committees and agencies
  • Drafting of proposed legislation and amendments to existing legislation
  • Position papers concerning proposed legislation
  • Traditional lobbying and governmental relations for corporations conducting business in our state
